Baby Shower

I'm back home from California and the best baby shower ever! It was so fun. It all started last week when I started getting all the big presents from family such as this adorable crib from my mom and Aunt Mari

super cuddly car seat from my dad and Flory

And then I flew out and headed to the party. One of my good friends Jamie made this cake all by herself. Isn't it amazing? She needs to do cakes professionally. She says it's just a hobby. (P.S. for anyone who hasn't heard the baby's name is going to be Oliver Grey)

She also made this baby blanket and a whole basket of first aid goodies. Very crafty.

Just a few other favorites were the Bumbo seat

USC Onesies

And the cutest little aviator outfit. Now we need to get a matching coat for daddy.

This little baby is going to be so spoiled. Thank you to everyone who came, I had a blast. Now it's go time. We've got 8 weeks to finish purchasing any other odds and ends, finish the nursery and unpack the rest of our house. Then I can meet my sweet little boy. I can't wait!

Dinner Disaster

Since I'm now staying home and not working I've decided to make it a personal goal to get better at cooking meals. Since we've moved into our new house I have to say I've done awesome. Not only does Ben always have a meal ready when he gets home or soon after but it tastes great as well. But as of a couple nights ago my streak was ruined. I tried to make chicken fried steak. No go. The whole outside crust was completely burnt. The whole downstairs was one big cloud of smoke.

Now you would think we would just throw it away and eat mac and cheese but nope my sweet husband ate it. As did I. He was so funny he still found a way to compliment how good the meal was. Lie. But that's okay.

Nursery #2

So after I finished the nursery I took pictures right away, posted them on the blog and went straight to bed. I was feeling pretty good about my accomplishment. Then the next morning I went in to look at it again and I hated it! The paint had dried much darker and it reminded me of a circus tent. So what's the logical thing to do? Paint it all over again of course. Yep that's right, the very next morning I repainted the whole thing in one day. (I blame my craziness on being pregnant) Now it's all blue with one tan wall and it looks much better. I wanted to hurry and fix it before Ben came back home. Now he's home and loves it. He was so excited that he put together the bassinet so there would be something in there for right now.

A quick update on Ben:
He just got back from his second trip to the middle east. He's been to both Iraq and Afghanistan now. He says it's so surreal being down there. When they land they have to get in their bulletproof vest and someone has a gun on them at all times. They get in and get out as fast as possible. His mission is always something different and he's just trying to get the hang of everything right now. He's home for now but probably only for a week or so. They don't tell us when he's going to leave again until 2 or 3 days before. So we'll party until he has to leave again and then I'll get back to work.

As for me, I'm now 29 weeks pregnant and feeling larger than life. Just call me Ginormica. Ü I feel like my stomach has stretched to its max and I really don't want to know how much more it can really stretch in the next 11 weeks. But I know it'll be worth it in the end.

House Pictures

(kitchen/dining room)
We have the downstairs all set up besides hanging pictures and stuff. We definitely need some decorations. It looks really plain. But I still love it.

Nursery

I finished painting the nursery today! It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be, but all in all I'm glad with how it turned out. Here are the before pictures:

And here is the after. It looks a little darker than it actually is. I changed my mind on how I wanted to do it. It's hard to get a good picture because the room is so small so you'll just have to come and visit to get the big picture.

Now we just need to get some furniture and a baby in there. :)I did order his bed set and we should be getting it sometime next week. Here's a picture of it.

My poor puppies have felt neglected this week with Ben being gone and me working on the nursery and house. One day I lost track of time and forgot to fill up their bowls with food and as I was walking around the corner to look for them I found this:

Two empty bowls so nice and neat in the middle of the floor. Rowdy's new trick.
